Join your neighbors for an evening of sharing what makes the Siuslaw Watershed special!

At SWC's monthly meeting, we host presentations on watershed-relevant topics and deliver organizational updates where you can find out what's going on at the Watershed Council and participate in our governance process.

This month we will hear from two of our new staff, Rosemary Pazdral and Caleb Mentzer! Rosemary, our new executive director, will talk about the relationships between geology, streamflow, and rain in Oregon coastal watersheds. Rosemary recently completed a dissertation investigating the watershed factors (like geology and forest cover) that influence stream water quantity and quality in Oregon’s coastal systems, and how that may influence stream responses to changes in precipitation in the region. For this presentation, she will briefly present the results at large, and then zoom into the Siuslaw to talk more specifically about our watershed!

Also at the meeting, Caleb, a new project manager, will discuss the recently completed helicopter large wood placement in Upper Deadwood and give a brief overview on how the stream hydrology is anticipated to respond to the addition of instream complexity.

We also welcome your engagement in confirming new Leadership Body appointments. We value your participation in this process. Please make sure that you have paid your 2021 membership dues prior to the October 27th meeting, as our bylaws require current membership for your vote to be counted. Contributing dues of any amount that is significant to you makes you a member.
